“It was very educational and interesting - in many ways a learning experience for us. Swiss watches are known all over the world and the precision engineering on display had to be seen to be believed.”
Many of the products Dr Ghoshal had seen in hospitals before but had not considered the manufacturing processes involved. “Now having seen how (devices) are produced, my appreciation is even greater. Items like dental implants from Institut Straumann and the systems for reconstruction of fractured skull bones at Medartis were particularly interesting.” Dr Ghoshal appreciated very much the personal contact: “Names like Zimmer and Schiller are familiar to us in India but from the user end. Meeting the owners like in the case of Schiller has become a memorable experience.”
